CHELSEA FRINGE SYDENHAM

The Chelsea Flower show in 2012 is expanding – for the first time there’s going to be a “Chelsea Fringe”, and Sydenham will be part of it. It’s the brain child of Tim Robinson, gardening correspondent of The Telegraph and a group of gardening writers with perhaps a slightly less conventional idea of what gardening is about.

Our event – or events – in Sydenham will be led by Iris Borgers of Grow Mayow, and will be about celebrating gardening. But by gardening we mean anything to do with people looking after plants, from bedding plants in a border to wild flowers and trees in woodland. We want to inspire people to learn more about plants, and get more gardening done, whether themselves, or finding a gardener to help them with a garden they are not sure what to do with.

The Chelsea Fringe will run from 19 May to 10 June, coinciding with the regular Chelsea Flower show
